Pavel KANDRÁČ


Pavel Kandráč - The Public Defender of RightsPavel Kandráč born in Prešov on 30 September 1941, concluded his studies at the Faculty of Law of the Comenius University in Bratislava (FLCU) in 1966. Entire activity of  Mr. Kandráč is related to the academic community, since he was the Vice-dean and the First Vice-dean of the Faculty of Law of the FLCU in Bratislava where he served as the Head of the Criminal Law Department, too. He also took an active part in advocacy and became a Dean of the Faculty of Law of the University of Matej Bell in Banská Bystrica and the Head of the Penal Law, Criminology and Criminalistics Department of the above mentioned Faculty of Law. Mr. Kandráč is member of several scientific boards and is the President of the Slovak Criminology Association by the Slovak Academy of Sciences. After the parliamentarian election in 1998, he was elected a Member of Parliament of the National Council of the Slovak Republic where he participated in the Committee for the Education, Science, Youth and Sport. In 1999, he inaugurated at the International Academy of sciences and arts Fribourg – Moscow – Budapest and acquired scientific-pedagogical title of the full professor. In March 2002, he was elected the first Ombudsperson in Slovak Republic – the Public Defender of Rights.
