Pavel Kandráč - Public defender of rightsPavel Kandrac was elected as the Public Defender of Rights by the National Council of the Slovak Republic on 19th  March 2002, to become the first Ombudsperson in history of the Slovak Republic. The term of the Public Defender of Rights commenced on the date that his Oath was administered by the Chairman of the National Council of the Slovak Republic, on 27th March 2002.

On 30th January 2007, Pavel Kandrac was re-elected in a secret ballot of the National Council of the Slovak Republic and will hold the office of the Public Defender of Rights in the Slovak Republic for another term of five years.
